Venice Freak Show

I attended the Venice Freakshow on Sunday February 27th. This was my second time ever going to this place. The venue is really small and had a lot of the exact same stuff that I had seen before. I think that my most favorite part of the event was the live performance. The performance wasn't anything ground breaking but the gentleman was funny and etertaining. His big show was swallowing a very long inflated balloon.

*For some reason this was the only picture that will upload. I have resized my pictures and it's still not working. So this is it for now and I will try again later or from another computer other than my laptop.

Bad Ad Update

1.2.

3.4.

5.

At first I was really struggling with this class and ad because I felt as though I was not understanding as to what the teacher was asking for. I FINALLY feel like the lightbulb has slightly come on!
When I think of contrast I want to keep the product LARGE since that is the most part of the ad. The Product is what is being sold. Also the name of the product is called "Last Blast Fusion" The name itself says large.

In the original ad the example of what the product does seems to be just placed in the background as a decoration. I like adding it to the brush so that it shows what the product looks like when used and it as well gives a purpose to the mascara design.

Examples of a Good and Bad Marketing Ad

This ad in my opinion is less than effective in regards to marketing a product so that the consumer will buy this particular product over another. At first glance I see an over sized brush with some sort of a mesh design in the back. The heading reads "Lashes that want it all, can have it all". My question is what exactly is having it all? Where does it show ME the consumer what exactly I can have? Bottom line is when I personally am shopping for mascara I want it to give me longer, fuller looking lashes that when applied not only do I have amazing eyes but maybe just maybe I look like a super model as a result of applying their product. This ad doesn't tell me a thing! Wait I stand corrected....it states in very small itty bitty print that Drew Berrymore wears this stuff. Ohhh ahhhh! I think they can do better!

Why You Ask?

Why am I taking a class in advertising? It may seem silly to some but to me it seems like a smart way to discover new possibilities. I have always considered myself a student of life. As I have gotten older I've realized that I do and have always enjoyed learning and expanding my mind to new things. That's why I guess it may not have been strange to those that know me best that I had decided to get back into school. When I started this journey it really was a way to just give myself something to do and have fun doing it since learning really is a joy of mine. It wasn't until a professor of mine had given some sound advice to our class that I decided to pursue more classes. The professor had said to take any classes in a subject or fieldd that you may have an interest in. Since having and running my own businesses and doing consulting for others I realized that I have always enjoyed the marketing aspect of growing a business. So that's really why I am here. To see if marketing is something that I like and if I would like to expand in that arena.
I'm excited to use this blog as a way to showcase and journal my work and experience.
